Dracons are one of the races of Wizardry franchise usable for character generation in the Cosmic Forge Saga games.
History
They are described as the result of mixed bloodlines between humans and dragons mixing to create the unique race. They are renowned for their ability to breathe acid when angered, giving them access to a special area of effect attack. They are said to be primarily solitary creatures, but dracons have been known to occasionally venture out and accompany another group for whatever reasons of its own. Dracons are noted for being strong, dexterous, and hearty.
Due to their natural strength, Dracons make excellent fighters, but their natural dexterity also helps them excel as rangers as well. They also make a decent alchemist for players looking for a caster with more hit points than average.
Trivia
- The word "Dracon" was previously used in 1989 as the name of a somewhat similar but unrelated race in the Spelljammer setting of Dungeons & Dragons.
- The word "Dracon" is possibly derived from the word "Draconian," which albeit a real world with its own definition, was used in the Dungeons & Dragons setting of Dragonlance to describe a race of human/dragon hybrids.
- The dracon's 'breath' ability can be bestowed to non-draconian characters via the Dracon Breath spell.
