This page outlines various guidelines for taking screenshots for use on the wiki.
For most Wizardry games that is available or supported on modern PC, it should be self-explanatory. However, if you use Steam's screenshot feature, you should enable the option to save uncompressed copies of screenshots and upload that version.
Note: Some emulators recommended here may require a powerful CPU and/or GPU to run at full speed. Wizardry Wiki will not provide access to files necessary to running the games.
For all emulators, it is assumed you are using the emulator's built-in screenshot feature if it has one. For Android users, it is discouraged to include on-screen button overlay while its turned on or screen apprehended by overlay.
Apple II
Use an up-to-date version of a Apple II emulator like AppleWin or LinApple.
Screenshots should be taken at the native high resolution of 280×192 unfiltered or use vibrant green filter if noted (the original monitor), and should use the actual font to match with the original hardware.
Microsoft DOS
Use an up-to-date version of a DOS emulator like DOSBox (Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Crusaders of the Dark Savant already included in Steam and GOG version).
Screenshots should be taken at the native resolution depends on certain games.
NEC PC-88 and PC-98
Use an up-to-date version of a PC-88 and PC-98 emulator like QUASI88 and Neko Project II Kai.
For the first trilogy games as well The Return of Werdna and Heart of the Maelstrom, set language to Japanese (日本語) are preferred over English unless its noted.
Nintendo Entertainment System
Use an up-to-date version of a modern NES emulator like Mesen, puNES, or Nestopia UE. For Android users, use an up-to-date version of a modern NES emulator like RetroArch frontend.
Screenshots should be taken at the full native resolution of 256×240px (no overscan cutoff), and should use the palette "NES Classic (FBX)", available for download here. Note: Mesen X's pre-installed "NES Classic (by FirebrandX)" palette is not actually this palette, despite the name.
For Legacy of Llylgamyn, screenshots from unaltered versions are preferred over fan translation screenshots unless its noted.
Game Boy and Game Boy Color
Use an up-to-date version of a modern GB and GBC emulator like mGBA, Gambatte, SameBoy, or BGB. For Android users, use an up-to-date version of a modern GB and GBC emulator like RetroArch frontend.
Screenshots should be taken at the full native resolution of 160×144px. For Game Boy games, use the black-and-white or grayscale pallette is recommended.

Super Nintendo
Use an up-to-date version of a modern SNES emulator like bsnes, higan, ares, or Snes9x. For Android users, use an up-to-date version of a modern SNES emulator like Snes9x EX+ or RetroArch frontend.
Take screenshots at the native resolution, which is 256×224px for all SNES or Super Famicom Wizardry games. bsnes's screenshots are BMP format instead of PNG, and should be re-saved as PNG. For higan, for bsnes if the fast PPU is turned off, and for ares, the output screenshots will be 512×448px, and they should be resized to 256×224px using nearest neighbor.
For bsnes, higan, and ares, set luminance, saturation, and gamma all to 100%. For bsnes, disable most enhancements and compatibility hacks; the enhancement "Fast mode" for the PPU can be left on, because the Wizardry games do not make use of the feature that the PPU fast mode disables; additionally, do not have "Show overscan area" or "Hires blur emulation" enabled in the output settings. For higan, set screen region to NTSC and disable color emulation and color bleed. For ares, disable color bleed, color emulation, and overscan in the video settings; enabling "Pixel Accuracy Mode" is not necessary (pixel accuracy mode is the same as the non-fast PPU in bsnes).
For Bane of the Cosmic Forge, Throb of the Demon's Heart, and Story of Llylgamyn, screenshots from unaltered versions of the games are preferred over fan translation screenshots unless its noted.

Take screenshots at the native 512×448px using an up-to-date nightly version of PCSX2. Use the software renderer, set screenshot size as "Internal Resolution (Aspect Uncorrected)", and make sure that texture filtering is set to "Bilinear (PS2)". For Android users, use an up-to-date version of the emulator NetherSX2, the emulator does not have a screenshot feature, so make sure integer scaling is enabled in screen sizing config, use the screenshot functionality, crop the screen, and, if necessary, resize it to the proper resolution using nearest neighbor.
