『ウィザードリィ 狂王の試練』はApple IIで発売された同名の1作目を現代風にリメイクしたもので、デジタル・イクリプスが開発・発売し、SteamとGOGを通じて2023年9月15日にアーリーアクセスを開始した、[2] 2024年5月23日に完全リリースされ、現世代機にも移植された。[3][4][5] 日本のSuperDeluxe Gamesでは、末弥純による描き下ろしのキーアートを使用したフィジカル版が発売された。[6][7]
リメイク版では、3Dグラフィックの完全強化、生活の質、ビジュアルの向上が図られている。

Dungeon Crawling, Deluxe

ゲーム内容
「狂王の試練」リメイク版は基本的にオリジナルゲームと同じで、グリッド形式の迷宮マップを一人称視点で見ることができる。 プレイヤーはキーボードやボタンを使ってキャラクターを移動させたり、向きを変えたりすることができる。 Unreal Engineで作成されたが、オリジナルのApple IIのコードが元になっている。 バージョン 0.4以降、ダンジョンのフロア6・7・8ではオリジナルのApple II版かファミコン版のどちらかを選ぶことができ、ウィニフレッド・フィリップスが作曲した新曲や、ストーリ・オブ・リルガミン、業績 などの新機能が追加されている。
オリジナルからの変更点
一般的な
ゲームを現代化するため、いくつかの大きな機械的変更が行われた：
- オールドスクールオプションが実装され、プレイヤーはモダン、オリジナル、クラシックコンソールに基づいた3つのプリセットを選択するか、ミニマップの非表示、テキストのみのデュマピック、ヒントの無効化など自由にカスタマイズすることができる。
- オプションでApple II版のスクリーンオーバーレイをオンにしてカスタマイズすることもできる。
デザイン
いくつかのモンスターのデザインは末弥純のアートワークを元にしているが、多くのモンスターはそのままの外見であり、いくつかのモンスターはデザインを変更し（ワードナなど）、レベル7魔道士が女性化するなど、いくつかのデザインは変更されている。
開発
2023年9月15日、デジタル・イクリプスのツイッターに投稿された「狂王の試練場狂」リメイクが予告された。[8] 公式ティーザーが公開される前の2023年6月8日、ロバート・シロテックは自身のツイッターで、他のゲームのアカウントに返信した。 クラッシック『ウィザードリィ』の著作権者はこの件とは何の関係もなく、近々発表されるでしょう。[9] 最初のティーザーの後、デジタル・イクリプスはこのゲームを早期アクセスとしてSteamとGOG.comで公開した。
多くのアーリーアクセスパッチを経て、バージョン0.4.1までリリースされた。 デジタル・イクリプスはリメイク版「狂王の試練場」を現世代機とPC向けに安定版1.0をリリースすると発表した。[10] 2024年5月23日発売。 また、同日にSuperDeluxe Gamesから日本限定の「デラックス版」と物理版が発表された。[6] 2024年10月10日に発売された「デラックス版」には、物理ゲーム、三方背ケース、トレーディングカード、DELUXE+ミニマガジン、冒険者の手引きミニガイドブック、末弥純描き下ろしアートカードが付属した。[7] また、クリーピングコインレプリカと『ウィザードリィ』リメイクステッカーロゴ商品は、SuperDeluxe Gamesストアにてご注文いただいた方限定の商品となります。
Trivia
- このゲームは、オリジナルが20年間入手できなかった後、そのまま発売された。
- ホビットの名前は使用できず、おそらく商標上の問題からハーフリングに改名されたJ. R.R.トールキンから商標の問題でハーフリングになったと思われる。
- Wizardry Chapter 1 は、ホビットの代わりにハーフリングをフィーチャーした最初のゲームだった。
- A Pure Force, 作曲者クリストファー・モー・ディテルフセンは、ゲームの早期アクセスPVで紹介された。
- これは、第8世代および第9世代ゲーム機向けに発売された最初の『ウィザードリィ』ゲームである。
