The Umpani are a military race that look like walking rhinos. They are intelligent, though stubborn when they cling to their orders. They are well organised and equipped, though their weaponry rather resembles 18th century shotguns and pistols. However, they also build spaceships with rather more powerful weapons.

They make their first appearance in Wizardry VII and are one of the factions in Wizardry 8. They cannot be created as playable characters, though they can be recruited to the party in the latter game.

Trivia

  • The Judoon in the TV show Doctor Who bear a striking resemblance to the Umpani. They are also very stubborn and military.
