Gameplay
While the first two games stuck fairly close to each other and to the fifth game, Scripture of the Dark started introducing more radical changes to the formula. This was mostly in the form of incorporating elements from Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge, but retaining the core gameplay derived from the fifth game.
Notable additions include
- Gender system.
- The Faerie, Dracon, Rawulf, Mook and Lizardman (race) races.
- The Alchemist, Bard, Ranger and Valkyrie classes.
- Distinct outdoors areas that do not function like dungeons.
- An Alchemist school of spells based on both Alchemy and Psionics spells from Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge with naming conventions based upon the previous games.
This hybrid system provided the foundation for almost all Japanese Wizardry titles that followed up until the Wizardry Renaissance.
