Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna

Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna is the fourth game in the main series for home computers, first released on Apple II in 1987 published by Sir-Tech. Due to the game being infamously known for strong difficulty, It is one of the most unusual computer role-playing game and sold poorly than prior titles.

The player is not controlling a party of heroes, but the evil wizard who was defeated in the first game. Werdna has to escape a deep dungeon in which he became entombed. His adversaries are heroes based on the character classes of the previous games.

The game was included together with The Third Scenario: Legacy of Llylgamyn in one disc. In order to select The Return of Werdna, player must navigate through the following: Edge of Town → Utilities, then choose WIZARDRY-4. Note that the game locks to only The Return of Werdna while resetting or turning back console on with the same disc unless deleting backup save or starting Legacy of Llylgamyn from Wizardry I•II disc. Exclusively on PC Engine CD version, the player can also control monsters manually other than just Werdna. The port is also missing some human enemies not found in other ports. Some of the puzzles have been simplified or removed entirely.
New Age of Llylgamyn
The original game was included together with The Fifth Scenario: Heart of the Maelstrom alongside the all-new Arrange Mode exclusively in New Age of Llylgamyn. The arrange mode features cutscenes illustrations, controllable monsters, having summons up to five although each group of monster can only have one each time when summoning, new multiple endings, etc. The mode can also be played in English except the message dialogues.
